We’re fully into summer, and there’s not a ton of official activities going on today or this weekend. I do have a couple of exciting updates, though!

Burlington Baseball Players Advance to Finals, Play at 5:30 Today

Our Baseball players have been working hard and playing hard this week in the Cal Ripken tournament at Simonds Park, and at least two teams will be heading to the finals – including the 12U team, which happens today at 5:30 at Simonds Park. Thanks to contributor Tony Salamone, we’ve got a wonderful summary of the trials and tribulations of the 12U team, as well as an update on our 11s and 8s. Burlington 12U Ripken Team Advances to Finals
It’s been an exciting week at Simonds Park as the Burlington Baseball & Softball Association has played host to the 12U Ripken Eastern Mass State Tournament. Governor’s Council Interviews Coming Soon

I’ve been working on editing up some interviews for you, and will be releasing some clips in the next few days from my interviews with Democratic Primary candidates for Governor’s Council, Marilyn Petitto Devaney (I), and Mara Dolan. I had a great time chatting with them both, and you can catch the entirety of both interviews on the podcast next Saturday. Paid subscribers can listen a week early, starting tomorrow, July 9!

Today in Burlington

The Shawsheen School Committee holds the only agenda items today:

  • 9:00 AM – Shawsheen School Committee Retreat during which the Committee Members and the newly-hired Superintendent-Director will get to know each other and do some planning for the future.
  • 2:00 PM – Shawsheen Budget Committee meets and will hold an executive session during which they’ll review an Open Meeting Law complaint.
