Burlington Football to Take on Duxbury Friday, Swim Team Has Strong Showing at States
Burlington-Woburn swim finishes 5th overall, Red Devils set to test perfect record against a well-matched opponent
The Burlington-Woburn swim team capped off their season with a strong performance at the state championship, taking 5th overall out of 14 teams in attendance. Swimmers that have been continuously improving all season continued the trend, setting personal bests and school records at this culminating event of the season.
Some highlights:
- Kayleigh McCarthy 4th overall in the 200 freestyle, breaking her own record
- Sadie Floyd 4th overall in the 50 freestyle
- Kayleigh McCarthy 5th overall in the 100 freestyle, Sadie Floyd (10th) & Alexandra Mahon (16th) setting personal records
- Ryley McCarthy setting a personal best in the 500 freestyle and taking 3rd overall in the 100 backstroke
- Ryley McCarthy, Sadie Floyd, Alexandra Mahon, and Kayleigh McCarthy's team taking 2nd overall it the 400 freestyle relay and setting a new school record for both schools
Congrats to the girls and their coaches for a season of improvement and camaraderie!
Red Devils Football will put their undefeated record to the test this evening after defeating Dartmouth 13-0 last Friday night in the first playoff game of the season.
The #5 seeded BHS team takes on the #4 Duxbury team in an away game this evening at 7:00 in the Round of 8.
