Daily Buzz | Town Website Boasts New Accessibility Features

Good Morning, friends and neighbors!

I asked, and you answered! Several new folks subscribed yesterday (welcome!), and we are well on our way to reaching our goal of 1,000 subscribers by the end of 2022. Today, I wanted to let you know about a new feature on the town website: accessibility options! Thanks to funding from the Burlington Disability Access Commission, the town was able to obtain AudioEye certification. According to the Town Clerk’s office, the process of AudioEye certification:

…involves automatic and manual testing with the goal of identifying and resolving access barriers, conforming with the World Wide Web Consortium’s (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA Success Criteria, and ensuring an optimal user experience for all users, regardless of their individual abilities.

In other words, the aim of this process is to enhance usability of the website for all users, including those with motor and visual impairments. To access these features, click on the blue person icon at the bottom right corner of the website. It looks like this:

The only thing I have on my calendar today is the Boys’ swim meet at 4:30. I also neglected to mention the Speed Classic yesterday in which our indoor track teams participated! Results can be found here.
