Burlington to Mark 25 Years Since 9/11 Attacks
The annual ceremony carries extra weight this year.

Across from Burlington’s fire station are two 700-lb steel rails that were removed from the wreckage following the 9/11 attacks in New York.
There, residents gather each year to remember the civilians and first responders who lost their lives during the attacks and in the days and years afterwards.
This year, with an additional Burlington graduate to honor and a new marker being added to recognize the three community members who traveled to New York to retrieve the rails, the ceremony carries extra weight.
Letters from the NY Fire Department and NY State Police will be presented, the BHS chorus and band will perform, and the Burlington Fire Department and Police Departments will be present, along with their respective honor guards.
The ceremony will be held on September 11 at 9:00 AM. It is open to the public and will last about one hour.
