Daily Buzz | Burlington-Based Home Show Earns Emmy Nod

And $2k raised for a wonderful cause

Good morning, Burlington!

Hope you enjoyed the weather and some family time (or alone time, if that’s your jam) this weekend.

It’s a bit of a slow news week, so I won’t keep you – but I did want to share a couple really cool pieces of local Burlington news.

First, I’m super excited for Burlington builders (and my in-laws!) Susan and Paul Kadilak for their Emmy nomination! If you haven’t watched their show, Renovation Rekindle, yet, you’re missing out. And I’m not just saying that because they’re family. They do gorgeous work, and they’re also pretty darn entertaining. The winners will be announced this week, and I’m on the edge of my seat. More here.

And, I’m happy to announce the recent fundraiser for Skate for the 22 Foundation raised $2,000 to benefit veteran suicide awareness and prevention. The Foundation takes its name from the sobering statistic that about 22 veterans each day commit suicide in the U.S. Skate for the 22 provides an outlet for veterans as well as prevention and education for vets and their families. DaMore Law sponsored this event, which they hope will grow larger and provide more funding for Skate for the 22 each year.

Today in Burlington

Just one meeting on the calendar today on this last day of May.

Other items of import

Summer is approaching, but nothing is slowing down.

  • The Town is looking to fill some committee seats. More information on that tomorrow. Until then, you can see the official press release below.
  • There will be a Public Listening Session about the Vine Brook Watershed and Urban Heat Island Assessment on June 15, from 6-7 PM. This assessment deals with urban flooding from extreme climate events, and the project has highlighted some opportunities to mitigate these effects in Burlington and the Vine Brook watershed.
  • Cops & Cars is scheduled for June 11.
  • No school June 20 in honor of the Juneteenth holiday.
  • Last day of school is June 22.
  • Pride is coming up! The event will be on 6/26 on the Common.
  • I’m sure I’m missing some things, but I’ll highlight them as they come up!

That’s it for today – have a wonderful day!
