Daily Buzz | April Break Starts a Day Early

Plus, two ways to pass along your unwanted belongings

Good morning, friends!

I thought it could be good to remind you that after today, there is no school in BPS until April 25!

I wasn’t able to attend Ways & Means last night, but I have it on good authority they voted in favor of adding one position each to the Recreation and Planning Department budgets for next year. Town Meeting still has to vote to approve these budgets in May, but this recommendation provides guidance to Town Meeting.

Also, middle school orientation was last night. All you parents of incoming 6th graders, I just have one thing to say:

Okay, two things. School starts on August 29, despite what my uncaffeinated brain made me say last night.

All the more reason to buy me a coffee. ☕️

Couple other things I thought it would be cool to mention:

  • There’s a Garden Club in Burlington!
  • That textile pick-up program from  Big Brothers-Big Sisters we talked about a few weeks ago is here! Learn more at BCAT.
  • There’s a town-wide yard sale on April 30! See the flyer below.

Today in Burlington

Here’s what’s on tap today:

  • 9:00 AM – Housing Authority meets for their regular meeting, during which they’ll discuss some financial/budgetary items, approve new Section 8 payment standards, and approve the new Executive Director Salary.

  • 5:30 PM – Ways & Means School Subcommittee meets to review the school budgets and school-related warrant articles for May Town Meeting.

  • 7:00 PM – Conservation Commission is back, and this time they’ll be discussing some proposed demo/construction projects and Community Preservation Act.

  • 7:00 PM – Library Trustees will have their regular meeting, which will include a review of library policy.

Have a great day, Burlington!

P.S. Here’s that flyer for the community yard sale.
