The Red Devils packed a lot of effort into a competitive stretch before the snow came in, highlighted by strong individual performances on the mat, gritty basketball battles, and another hard-fought weekend on the ice.

Wrestling delivered a deep team effort Friday night at a quad meet at Silver Lake, finishing 1-1-1 against strong competition. Burlington tied Middleboro 39-39, fell to host Silver Lake 42-30, and rolled past Oliver Ames 55-18. Shvartsman led the way with a perfect 3-0 night and three pins, while Abreu, McElroy, Bonnell, and Leavitt also went 3-0. Multiple Red Devils added bonus points, underscoring the lineup’s depth as Burlington moved to 12-10-1 on the season.

On the court, girls’ basketball came up just short in a heartbreaking 37-35 overtime loss to Watertown. The game stayed tight from tip to final horn; Gill led with a strong all-around performance, while Ochi put up a strong defensive battle. Boys’ basketball delivered with a decisive 56-42 win over Watertown, led by M. Gray and Poehler, clinching Burlington’s 10th straight tournament berth and improving to 10-2 overall.

Hockey rounded out the weekend with split results against Winchester. The girls dropped a 4-1 game but continued to show fight throughout, while the boys earned a 4-1 win behind a balanced scoring attack and another strong effort in net.
