Tight Basketball Matchup Expected Against Wakefield Warriors
The Red Devils will take on Wakefield this evening in a close D2 matchup. Wrestling and hockey this weekend assuming snow doesn't pre-empt them.
As anticipated, Thursday's games were postponed or canceled due to snow—a fate which might be shared by some games this weekend too as another, more intense, snowstorm is set to blow in.
This afternoon, basketball against Wakefield is on the schedule. Freshman boys will make the trip up 128 for an away game, while the JV and varsity teams will all face the Warriors at BHS. Boys' and girls' JV teams will kick things off at 4:00, followed by a 5:30 girls' varsity game and boys' varsity at 7:00.
The girls currently sit at a power ranking of 27, while boys are at 17, just shy of the top 16 in their division. Wakefield's teams are strong and ranked 17 and 16, so expect two well-matched, hard-fought games.
Tomorrow, assuming they don't get snowed out, the hockey and wrestling teams will be at it. Junior Varsity boys' hockey kicks things off at Stoneham at 8:30, followed by varsity hockey in Melrose; girls are expected to play at 12:00 and boys at 7:20. The wrestling team will be at Waltham for a 10:00 AM meet.
