Duxbury Tops Burlington 38–14 in Round of 8

Burlington’s postseason run came to an end Friday night, as the Red Devils fell 38–14 to a strong Duxbury team in the MIAA Division 4 Round of 8. Burlington opened the game receiving the ball but quickly gave possession back on an interception, and Duxbury capitalized, marching downfield for a 7–0 lead. The Dragons extended their advantage to 14–0 midway through the second quarter before Ryan Brooks broke loose for a long run and lunged in for a one-yard touchdown to cut the deficit to 14–6.

Duxbury added a late first-half field goal to go up 17–6 at the break, then struck quickly after halftime to widen the gap. Burlington continued to battle, but Duxbury’s offense kept rolling, building a 31–6 lead through three quarters and eventually sealing a 38–14 final.

The loss concludes a memorable season for the Burlington team, which entered the playoffs undefeated.

This also officially wraps the fall athletics season for Burlington. Practices for the winter season begin after Thanksgiving, and games begin in mid-December.
