Burlington Opens Postseason with Strong Performances; Wrestling Shines at All-States

Postseason play is officially underway — and Burlington teams are putting up hard-fought performances across the bracket.
Boys’ Hockey Advances
The #4-seed Red Devils came out flying in the Round of 32, building a 3–0 lead after the first period and cruising to a 6–1 win over Plymouth North.
Six different players found the back of the net — Berardinelli, McElroy, Ulmschneider, Tulipano, Gordon, and McWhinnie — showcasing the depth that has fueled Burlington all season.
Next up: #13 Duxbury on Monday, March 2, at 6:10 p.m. at the Burlington Ice Palace.
Boys’ Basketball Rolls into Sweet 16
The #6-seed Devils delivered a 95–58 first-round win over Holliston in a packed home gym.
Burlington jumped out to a 28–8 lead after one quarter, highlighted by Matty Gray scoring his 1,000th career point early in the game. Gray finished with 25 points, Poehler added 18, Shannon 14, Ssekandi 12, Ellis nine. J. Gray controlled the floor.
Burlington advances to the Sweet 16 and will host #11 Longmeadow on Tuesday, March 3.
Girls’ Basketball Battles to the End
The #30-seed Lady Devils opened tournament play with grit, overcoming a 12–0 deficit to defeat Middleboro 51–37 in the Division 2 preliminary round.
Sicari led with 16 points and four steals, Ochi posted 10 points, 10 rebounds, and four blocks, Reilly added nine points and seven assists, and Bagglio chipped in nine points and four rebounds.
Facing St. Mary’s the very next day, Burlington fell 68–36. Sicari scored 13 with three steals, and Reilly added nine points and four assists as the Lady Devils closed the season at 12–10.
Girls’ Hockey Falls in Thriller
The #25-seed Devils saw their season end in heartbreaking fashion with a 4–3 loss to Nauset.
Benji scored a huge first career goal and earned Player of the Game honors. The team played with heart throughout, closing out another competitive campaign.
Wrestling Competes at All-States
Fresh off crowning two Division 2 state champions, Burlington Wrestling continues its postseason push at the Massachusetts All-State Tournament.
Max Shvartsman recorded two quick pins on day one to advance to the semifinals. Cameron Bonnell finished 2–1 and secured a top-eight finish, needing one more win to secure his bid at New Englands.
The Red Devils currently sit 16th out of 101 teams as action continues today.
