Burlington Basketball Honors Seniors, Secures Wins as Regular Season Nears Finish
Burlington hoops sweeps Watertown on Senior Night as hockey, track add highlights entering final days of regular season play.
Burlington winter teams continued their late-season push with milestone wins on the court, hard work on the ice, and standout marks in the field as the final days of the regular season arrive for hockey and basketball.
On the ice, boys’ hockey battled Wilmington but came up short in a 3–1 loss. Tulipano scored Burlington’s lone goal. The girls faced a tough matchup against Malden Catholic, falling 7–2. Steiner netted her first career goal, and Cleary also scored.
Friday night belonged to basketball — and the seniors.
The boys celebrated Senior Night with a strong 68–54 win over Watertown, improving to 16–2 overall (15–1 ML). Poehler and M. Gray each poured in 21 points, with Ellis adding 11 in a balanced offensive effort.
The girls followed with a statement win of their own, defeating Watertown 51–46. Sicari led with 13 points, Thomas added 12, and Reilly finished with 10 points and six assists. Gill chipped in nine points and eight rebounds as the Lady Devils moved to 11–7 heading into the Spartan Classic.
In track and field, Perkins Augustin delivered a career performance in the shot put, breaking the 50-foot barrier with a throw of 50’ 5.25”. Shane Sheehan added a third-place finish in the long jump at 20’ 9”, just four inches shy of first.
With postseason spots secured and senior celebrations underway, Burlington now enters the final days of regular season competition for hockey and basketball, building momentum toward tournament play.
