Boys' Track Finishes Second at Relay Championships, Volleyball and Girls' Tennis Both Win Over the Weekend
Boys' track achieves at Sunday's relay championships, while volleyball topped Belmont and girls tennis edged Wakefield 3-2 over a busy four-day stretch
Burlington's weekend had its share of highlights, headlined by boys' track turning in one of the program's best performances of the spring.
At Sunday's relay championships in Pembroke, the Red Devils finished second out of a field of more than 40 teams — their third straight runner-up finish at the meet, according to the team's Twitter account. Newburyport took the title, but Burlington held off Wakefield for second on the strength of a school record in the triple discus and a standout 4x400 performance. The relay team of Scott Rigolini, Leo Castro, Nagappan, and Steve Dalalelis — all running their second or third race of the day — clocked a 3:38.82 to edge Wakefield for the runner-up trophy.
Unified basketball scored a 47-37 win over Melrose at home on Thursday.
On Friday, boys' volleyball swept Belmont 3-0 at home to move to 6-6. This follows a tough trip to Somerville on Thursday where varsity fell 1-3 and JV lost 0-2.
Girls' tennis won a tight one at home Friday, topping Wakefield 3-2. Cecelia Fraczek, Shreeya Patel, Emery Shaw, Samira Patel, and Nishtha Prajapati all earned wins for Burlington.
Results from the softball game at Wakefield on Friday had not been reported at time of publication.
Girls' lacrosse fell 2-14 at undefeated Reading on Saturday, dropping to 5-8.
