Boys' Hockey Clinches League Title
Burlington boys’ hockey captures the ML Freedom crown with a 6–2 win over Melrose
The Red Devils boys' hockey team on Wednesday cemented their spot at the top of the Middlesex Freedom League.
The team took a decisive 6–2 win over Melrose, erupting for two goals in a 24-second first-period burst and never looking back. The team played a strong offensive game with goals and assissts spread across the line.
This crown signifies a strong upward trajectory for a team that just a few years ago fell short of the tournament. At 12-2-1, they've already won more games this year than they did in 2024 (11-8-3) and '25 (11-8-1), according to a tweet from freelance sports reporter Tom Muherin.
The girls' team battled but ultimately fell to Melrose 4-0, bringing their record to 4-10. Both teams will be back at it this weekend at Wakefield.
