Letter to the Editor: Hillary Kleck and Katherine Bond for School Committee
Michelle Huntoon explains why she encourages Burlington residents to vote for Hillary Kleck and Katherine Bond for School Committee in 2026.
I am writing to express my strong support for Hillary Kleck and Katherine Bond for School Committee.
As Burlington prepares for the upcoming School Committee election, I encourage residents to take a close look at each candidate’s record of engagement, commitment to public education, and readiness to serve. This is an important moment for our community. The conversation around the future of Burlington High School made clear just how much thoughtful, consistent leadership matters - not just during election season, but year-round. At a time when our schools face complex challenges, consistent engagement and a demonstrated connection to our public school community are essential.
Both Hillary Kleck and Katherine Bond demonstrated real commitment during the BHS process. They showed up, engaged with residents, and contributed meaningfully to a complex and often challenging community conversation, without shying away from the discussion. That kind of active engagement is exactly what we need on the School Committee.
Hillary Kleck brings not only a strong record of community engagement, but also a clear and forward-looking vision for our schools. She has been a thoughtful advocate for expanding opportunities for girls in STEM, strengthening support systems to ensure all students can succeed, and improving transparency and communication between the School Committee and the broader community. I am confident she will bring practical, solutions-oriented, data-driven thinking to the challenges facing our schools.
Katherine Bond has likewise been a consistent and constructive presence, engaging with residents and advocating for thoughtful, community-centered progress. She understands how our school system works and the responsibilities of serving on the School Committee.
Burlington will be best served by leaders who are present, prepared, and committed to the success of every student; leaders who are willing to take thoughtful positions and stand behind them. I believe Hillary Kleck and Katherine Bond offer exactly that kind of leadership, and I strongly encourage voters to support them on April 11.
