Help Me Help You

ICYMI, yesterday I sent out surveys for free and paid subscribers to help set the vision for the Buzz in the new year. Of course, y’all are awesome, and almost 10% of you have already responded. Thank you! If you haven’t yet, please do! This information will help me make some important decisions for the Buzzness. (See what I did there? )

Early Voting

Early Voting is happening now; schedule here. I’m leaving the statewide ballot questions alone, but Question 5 is local to Burlington and is about the Community Preservation Act. If you haven’t, please do check out my interviews with John Iler (No) and Jonathan Sachs (Yes) to help you decide how you’ll vote.

Conservation Commission Opening

There is an upcoming opening on the Conservation Commission to fill the seat left by Don Bernstein’s impending departure. From Conservation Administrator, John Keeley,

ConCom is a seven-member volunteer board that was founded in 1966 ‘for the promotion and development of natural resources and for the protection of watershed resources.’ Today, the Conservation Commission administers the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act and the Burlington Bylaws for wetland protection and stormwater management. Additionally, the Conservation Commission manages nearly three hundred acres of Conservation Land.

If you’re a Burlington resident who wants to take an active role in these areas, please reach out to John via email or attend one of ConCom’s upcoming meetings. They meet on Thursdays, usually twice per month, including this week.
