D1 Training Introduces Premier Athletic-Based Fitness Concept to Burlington

Local Entrepreneur Opens World-Class Fitness Facility for Youth and Adult Athletes

D1 Training, the leading fitness concept utilizing the five core tenets of athletic-based training, has opened a new location in Burlington at 60 South Avenue. They are hosting Grand Opening events on November 11 and 12 at the facility. The athletic-training facility employs a sports-science backed training regimen designed by a national panel of world class athletes and coaches to help people ages 7 and older achieve their sport and fitness goals.

Owned and operated by Vic Viktorov, D1 Training is committed to changing their communities’ lives for the better. Viktorov will join a roster of impressive existing franchisees and owners, some of which include professional athletes such as Super Bowl MVP Von Miller, 12x NBA All-Star Chris Paul, and MLB MVP Chipper Jones. With 20+ years of experience indirectly transforming people’s lives through management consulting, Viktorov is now excited to more directly transform people’s lives with a lens on health, wellness, and athletic performance.

At the young age of 40, Viktorov suffered a “widowmaker” heart attack, which only has a 6% survival rate. Following this traumatic event, Viktorov made it his mission to help everyone young and old live healthy and active lifestyles to prevent health issues like he experienced. He wanted to go back to his love of sports but could not find the athletic-based and family-friendly facility he was looking for in the Greater Boston area. That is where the idea of D1 Training for the Boston area was born.

“I was such an active and sporty kid, but after living the corporate grind for over 20 years, I got into bad habits of little exercise, poor eating, inadequate sleep, and too much stress, which led to me having a heart attack. I was looking for a place like D1 to help me with my fitness, hold me accountable, and train as I used to as an athlete, while also having the ability for my kids to work out next me; there wasn’t anything like this in Boston, so I decided I was going to build it,” said Viktorov. “I had such a newfound passion for wanting to help my community avoid the traps I fell into while making a real meaningful impact on kids and adults. I decided I was going to start a positive, energetic, and family-friendly business – I know Boston will fall in love with D1 Training. We are going to be a pillar of the community.”

D1 Training offers four age-based programs including Rookie (ages 7-11), Developmental (ages 12-14), Prep (ages 15-18) and D1 Adult. Each fitness program is based on the five athletic-based tenets: dynamic warm-up, performance, strength program, core and conditioning, and cool down. Outside of group workouts, D1 Training offers one-on-one training with world-class coaches. The goal is simple: to continue to train athletes who are dedicated to their sport or their fitness goals, regardless of age or athletic background.

“Vic is the ideal candidate to bring the D1 Training experience to Greater Boston,” said the brand’s Chief Operating Officer, Dan Murphy. “We’re thrilled to welcome him to the D1 family and are confident in his ability to show Greater Boston what they’ve been missing out on. D1 is a one-of-a-kind fitness experience that’s built around the individual and meant to help people meet their appropriate edge. Our strong network of franchisees embodies our core values to bring the D1 Training vision to life, and we know Vic will do just that the Greater Boston community.”

Strategically expanding across the nation through franchising, D1 Training has more than 60 performance centers open with over 120 additional locations in development. The brand is currently seeking qualified and active community members to expand its footprint and help more people meet their fitness goals.
