It was a strong few days in Burlington athletics, as one team wrapped up a banner season and another made waves in competition.

At Sunday’s North Sectionals, the Woburn/Burlington girls' swim team earned 7th place overall with 155 points, marking a successful showing against strong competition. Highlights include:

  • Ava Eldridge swimming her fastest time of the year in the 200 Individual Medley
  • The 200 Medley Relay team taking 3rd overall and just missing a Burlington record by three hundredths of a second
  • Kayleigh McCarthy breaking her own school record in the 100 Freestyle
  • The 400 Freestyle relay team swimming 3rd overall and setting a new school record for both Burlington and Woburn
  • Riley McCarthy swimming her fastest recorded time and taking 2nd overall
  • Ryley McCarthy taking 3rd place overall in the 500 freestyle and setting a personal record

The team now looks ahead to the Division 2 State Championships, set for Sunday morning, November 9, at Boston University.

Meanwhile, Burlington volleyball’s memorable 2025 campaign came to an end in the Round of 16 as the #11 Lady Devils fell 0-3 to #6 Marblehead in a hard-fought matchup that included tight 25-22 first and second sets. Despite the loss, the team closes the year with an impressive 17-5 record, capturing the Middlesex League Freedom Division title and earning the program’s first volleyball banner.

Wednesday, Lady Devils take the field for their first playoff game at 4:00, facing Prince Philip in Wrentham in the Round of 32.

Burlington football begins its postseason run this Friday at 6:00, hosting Dartmouth in the MIAA Division 4 Round of 16.
