Hockey Splits Non-League Tests as Winter Schedule Ramps Up
Burlington hockey teams were back on the ice Monday, with the boys cruising to a shutout win while the girls battled Central Catholic in a tight non-league test.
Burlington hockey teams were in action Monday night, turning in a split of non-league results as winter schedules continue to ramp up.
The girls’ hockey team put together a strong team effort but came up just short in a 2–1 loss to Central Catholic. After a scoreless first period and a 1–1 tie through two, Central Catholic found the go-ahead goal in the third. Emma Steiner scored Burlington’s lone goal in a tightly contested matchup.
On the boys’ side, the Red Devils skated to a dominant 7–0 win over Newburyport. The team erupted in the second period, scoring five goals — including two just 43 seconds apart — to break the game open. Goals were widespread and came from Nestor, DeRosa (first career), Tulipano, McElroy, Gordon, Ulmschneider, and Berardinelli, while MacLeod and Durrett combined for the shutout in net.
Both hockey teams return to the ice Wednesday against Melrose.
