Girls' Lacrosse Rolls Past Doherty 19–5 on Memorial Day; Burlington Goes 2–5 Over Five-Day Stretch
Girls' lacrosse comes out victorious in their first tourney matchup, remaining teams gear up for Round of 32 games.
Burlington went 2–5 from Thursday through Monday, with girls' lacrosse delivering the week's biggest result while baseball, softball, and both volleyball and lacrosse teams absorbed losses as the regular season winds toward its close.
Boys' volleyball beat Framingham 3–1 at home Thursday to improve to 11–8, then dropped a 1–3 decision at Billerica on Friday to fall to 11–9. With a power ranking of 12, the team has clinched a spot in the MIAA Division 2 tournament.
Boys' lacrosse fell 3–11 at North Andover Thursday, dropping to 10–8. Before Monday's Memorial Day holiday, several members of the program attended Burlington's town ceremony — a moment the team noted with pride on social media.
Lady Devils softball lost 4–16 at Billerica Friday, falling to 5–13. The baseball team went 0-2 in the Brendan Grant Tournament at Belmont over the weekend. The Red Devils fell to Lynnfield 1–9 on Friday and to Belmont 2–5 on Saturday.
Girls' lacrosse opened the MIAA Division 2 tournament on a dominant note, with the 26th-seeded Red Devils rolling past 39th-seeded Doherty Memorial 19–5 at home Monday in a wildcard game. Burlington advances to the Round of 32, where they'll face 7th-seeded Westborough at a time TBD this week.
The MIAA Division 2 tennis brackets were released last week, and both Burlington programs are in action Wednesday in the Round of 32. Boys' tennis, seeded 13th, hosts 20th-seeded Minnechaug at Rahanis Park at 3:00 PM. Girls' tennis, seeded 23rd, travels to 10th-seeded Bishop Stang at 4:00 PM.
