Boys' Tennis Advances to Round of 16 as Girls' Programs Exit; Lacrosse and Volleyball Set for Friday
Boys' lacrosse and volleyball open tournament play Friday while boys' tennis waits in the Round of 16, and baseball's 9–9 season ends without a tournament berth.
Burlington's tournament field narrowed Wednesday after a busy Tuesday of MIAA play. Boys' tennis moved on, while girls' tennis and girls' lacrosse both saw their seasons end. Three Red Devils programs remain alive heading into the weekend.
Boys' tennis, the 13th seed, beat 20th-seeded Minnechaug in the Round of 32 at Rahanis Park on Tuesday. The team advances to the Round of 16, where they'll play Walpole in an away game at 4:00 PM on June 2.
Girls' tennis, seeded 23rd, lost at 10th-seeded Bishop Stang in the Round of 32, ending the season.
Girls' lacrosse fell 17–6 to 7th-seeded Westborough in the Round of 32, closing out a season that included a dominant 19–5 wildcard win over Doherty Memorial on Memorial Day.
No games are scheduled for today, though boys' lacrosse and boys' volleyball are both in action Friday in their Round of 32 openers. The 22nd-seeded Red Devils lacrosse team travels to 11th-seeded Canton for a 6:00 game, while boys' volleyball, seeded 13th, hosts 20th-seeded Ware at 4:00. Winners on both sides advance to the Round of 16.
Boys' baseball finished the regular season 9–9 with a final power ranking of 32 but did not make the Division 2 tournament field.
