Daily Buzz | Shawsheen Student Recognized for High Academic Achievement
Also, register for recreation activities

Hello, Neighbor!
Before we get going today, I have one reminder and a couple of things to ask of you.
If you’re interested in manning a Burlington Buzz table at an upcoming event like Truck Day, a Beer Garden, etc., please reach out. Volunteers will get some Buzz swag, including a t-shirt (which you can wear while repping the Buzz, handing out free stuff, signing folks up to the newsletter, and letting people know how awesome we are), a gift card, and more. You can connect with me on social media, by replying to this email, or by emailing hello@burlington.buzz.
Many of you send photos from time to time, and I’d like to officially let you know that this kind of community sharing is encouraged! Feel free to send me photos to use in the Buzz using the above contact methods. If there are enough submissions, I’ll assemble a very scientific board of the people that live in my house to select their favorites! Winners will, of course, get swag.
Registration for the fall season of Parks & Recreation programs opens today for Burlington residents at 6:00 PM. Remember to:
Have your family registered, sending a birth certificate for kids under 5 who are registering for the first time.
Call if you have a child entering kindergarten to be sure their grade information is saved in the system.
Be prepared by looking through the brochure and noting the section numbers of the activities you want.
Get your clicking fingers ready. The most sought-after classes go fast.
Okay, now that the info dump is out of the way, the Buzz has some good news to share! Shawsheen student, Jayden Donaher, has been named a PSAT Commended Scholar, having scored among the top 2-3% of scorers nationwide. He’s the only student from Shawsheen to achieve this honor this year, and in all the years since Principal Cook has been at Shawsheen. Jayden was the Salutatorian for his class, and he’ll be attending UMass Lowell this fall.

Sports and Activities
Not all scores are out for yesterday’s games, but boys’ and girls’ soccer teams played and the JV and Freshman girls’ volleyball teams were scheduled to play, as well. Varsity boys lost their match 4-3, while JV won 6-0 against Tewksbury.
Today, JV girls take their volleyball game to Billerica for a 3:00 scrimmage.
That’s all I’ve got for you today. Have a great one, Burlington!
