Weekend Buzz | Fox Hill Teacher Honored at Red Sox Game

Also, don’t forget about Hazardous Waste Day and Truck Day!

Hello, friends and neighbors!

Before I get into today’s story, I want to remind you about Household Hazardous Waste Day today from 8:30-12 at Francis Wyman and Truck Day tomorrow on the Common from 10-2. Cub Scout Pack 105 will be there if interested boys or girls in grades K-5 want to come check them out.

And, finally, the PMC Kids Ride is still happening tomorrow morning to benefit Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund. You can join, or just donate to support the cause, right here.

Now, on to the main event!

Earlier this year, Fox Hill fifth grade teacher, Meghan Curran, was surprised by an email from the Boston Red Sox letting her know she was selected for the Most Valuable Educator award.

Students Sydney and Ivy Geist wrote a letter to the Red Sox nominating Ms. Curran for the award. In it they describe her classroom as a family, and they detail all the little things Ms. Curran does to make class special and comfortable for kids.

Ms. Curran was awarded with a special personalized jersey, and her name and bio were announced for all of Fenway to hear. She said that while the Red Sox lost to the Yankees 3-2 (but who doesn’t want to watch these two teams duke it out, regardless of the outcome?!), “it was a great game with a cool view from the grandstand behind home plate!”

Congratulations to Ms. Curran, and thank you for being a safe space for some of Burlington’s children!

Sports

It doesn’t look like scores are in for all games played yesterday, unless there were a whole lot of 0-0 draws across the calendar, but I can tell you that our Varsity Boys’ and Girls’ Soccer teams lost against Stoneham 3-1 and 5-0, respectively, and Varsity Girls’ Volleyball won 3-nothing.

Our Varsity football team lost against Woburn last night, 36-7.

Today’s Schedule

JV Football is on the schedule for 10PM at Woburn. That seems late to me, and yesterday there was both a 10am and 10pm on the calendar. The 10am game has fallen off, and I can’t find evidence that they’re playing at all today. If your child is on the team, I bet you know whether or not they have a game today. Wanna reply to this post and let me know?

That’s it for me today. Enjoy this beautiful weekend!
