Good Morning, Burlington!

Exciting news: The Conservation Commission is seeking another member!

This appointed volunteer board is charged with educating residents about, and protecting, the natural resources here in Burlington. They also administer the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act and the Burlington Bylaws for wetland protection and stormwater management.

The Conservation Commission meets twice a month for most months of the year, on Thursdays at 6:30 PM. To learn more about ConCom, see the Buzz Profile below and their website. To put your name into the running, call the office at 781-270-1655.

That’s because Burlington is situated at the beginning of three major watersheds: Mystic, Shawsheen, and Ipswich. The Conservation Commission is responsible for helping Burlington residents coexist with these abundant water sources, and more.

Meetings and Events

  • 6:00 PM – Fox Hill School Building Committee will go through an update on the process and upcoming milestones. Don’t forget, there will be a Community Forum to update the community on this project on May 18 at 7:00 PM! (BHS and virtual)
  • 6:00 PM – Pine Glen Art Night & Spring Concert
  • 7:00 PM – Board of Appeals will hear about a request for a variance for a number of signs at Lahey and another for a garage on Carter Rd. (Public hearings begin at 7:30 at Town Hall)
  • 7:00 PM – Library event: Preserving Family Recipes with Valerie Frey (Register)

Sports and Activities

Lady Devils beat Wakefield 4-1 in tennis yesterday; the lacrosse game was postponed.

More tennis on the calendar today, along with another handful of sports:

  • Tennis versus Belmont at 4:00: Boys host; girls travel.
  • Baseball in Woburn: JV and Varsity both play at 4:00.
  • Softball at 4:15 against Woburn: JV at Rotary Field and Varsity at Marvin Field.
  • Volleyball against Wakefield at BHS: JV plays at 4:00 and Varsity at 5:30.
