Daily Buzz | Composition #1 Joins Burlington

Farewell to Endeavor

Hello, Burlington!

Congratulations once again to our U11 state champion baseball players, who will be heading to regionals in Maine starting this Friday, July 15. Here’s Tony’s recap of the suspenseful tournament.

There’s nothing on the town calendar for today, so I will instead share some information and photos from the installation of our newest sculpture yesterday.

I was headed to the library with Baby Buzz when I caught a glimpse of his favorite thing on the planet: an excavator! So then of course we had to stop and see what the big to-do was. (As a local newsperson I did actually know the sculpture was set to be installed, but I hadn’t planned on going to that side of town until I found myself there.)

Baby Buzz was able to watch as DPW staff operated the big “digger,” moving Endeavor out of the way. He also got to help Sculpture Park Committee Member Jon Sachs clear some of the debris and soil off the concrete pad so Composition #1 could have a nice place to rest for the next two years.

Sculptor, Chris Plaisted, is now the only artist from the first installation to also have a sculpture in the second installation. Made from painted steel and featuring a concrete ball in the center, this one reminds me of a 2-D representation of a 3-D net catching a ball.

What does it look like to you?

Have a great day, Burlington!
