Daily Buzz | Burlington Joins the Property-Assessed Clean Energy Program, Chooses Designer for Mall Road Rezoning

Also, financial Town Meeting articles to be considered by Ways & Means subcommittees

Good Morning, Burlington!

Let me start by saying: If I owe you a mug, I haven’t forgotten about it. I just haven’t been out much. I think I have 4 left to deliver, and if fortunes align I’ll be out with them this week. If you are waiting for one and don’t get one this week, hit me up and remind me. But rest assured, if you sent me your address I do have it in my email and I will be by soon with your BB mug and some other little goodies!

I also wanted to share some pretty nifty news with you from the Economic Development office.

Burlington has joined the Property-Assessed Clean Energy Program (PACE) program. This program allows for property owners to finance energy improvements on commercial and industrial buildings and multifamily properties with five or more units. Read more about the program and Burlington’s participation here.

Also, a committee consisting of several Town officers has selected Brovitz Community Planning & Design for the Mall Road rezoning initiative. The Economic Development Office has been looking into redesigning the Mall Road-Middlesex Turnpike area to make it more accessible and welcoming for different modes of transportation. This initiative was approved by Town Meeting in 2022 and Town funding combined with a state grant allowed us to collaborate with Mass Development to create a concept plan. This new partnership with Brovitz will bring Burlington into the next phase of this project, which will re-envision how that area can be redeveloped over the next 10-20 years to make it better work for our town.
