Badges and Bases Event This Sunday Pits Fire and Police Against Each Other For a Good Cause

Also, enjoy the Fall Fitness Festival on the Common on Saturday

Good morning!

I somehow neglected to mention in the Weekly Buzz (Don’t worry; it’s fixed now!) that the Badges and Bases game we’ve been looking forward to for weeks is finally upon  us! This Sunday afternoon, from 1-5, the Police and Fire Departments will battle each other in a softball game to benefit The Mama Bear Effect, a Burlington-based organization dedicated to raising awareness and protecting children from the threat of sexual abuse. While registration is free, there are lots of sponsorship opportunities still available – consider pooling together with some friends or family and sponsoring this event.

Another thing I didn’t mention was the Fall Fitness Festival from 10-1 on the Common on Saturday, 9/24. Click here for more info, including when they’ll be running family Zumba and a number of other classes.

Finally, I learned of a tennis fundraiser this Saturday morning to benefit Boston Children’s Hospital. If you play singles and/or doubles and like to help benefit a good cause, check it out.

Our Freshman (2-1) and Varsity (3-2) Volleyball players won their matches in Wayland, while JV lost 0-2.

Field Hockey in Stoneham resulted in a 4-1 JV loss and a draw at zero for the Varsity team.

  • Golf plays at 3:15 in Billerica today.
  • Volleyball is in Watertown with JV and Freshman games at 4:00 and Varsity at 5:30.
  • Varsity cross country is at home against Winchester; both boys and girls run at 4:00.
  • Boys’ soccer is at home against Watertown today, with both JV and Varsity playing at 4:00.
