With Burlington, MA, voters set to decide the fate of a $333 million high-school project, we checked in on a few other Burlingtons to see what their schools look like.

Burlington, Vermont — Home of the Seahorses
Burlington High School’s teams are the Seahorses — one of the more unusual mascots around. The school serves just under 1,000 students and offers an open school-choice program via lottery, drawing in families from nearby towns. It recently gained attention for using a creative interim facility (an old Macy's building) after ground contamination found during a renovation project forced a campus move.

Burlington, Iowa — Grayhounds on the Mississippi
Perched above the river, Burlington Community High School has about 1,100 students and the Grayhound as mascot. It’s a regional hub for athletics and arts — and yes, its prom photos often feature a famous city landmark.
Completed in 1969 and occupying around 300,000 sq ft, Burlington Community High School is now undergoing a $34+ million renovation to update its 55-year-old infrastructure.

Burlington, Ontario (Canada) — A City of Schools
Canada’s Burlington boasts half a dozen public secondary schools, from arts-oriented Nelson High to tech-focused Dr. Frank J. Hayden Secondary. The city’s mix of magnet programs and apprenticeship options reflects Ontario’s focus on choice and specialization in secondary education.
Burlington, Kansas — Wildcats on the Plains
Small but mighty, Burlington High (enrollment around 250; 26 teachers) serves a wide rural area. The Wildcats are known for strong community support — local voters have repeatedly funded facility upgrades and hands-on vocational programs to keep students career-ready.
Other fun facts
- The Burlington, CO, Cougars football team ended their undefeated streak and are headed into the playoffs 7-2 on the season. Their first game is this Saturday against the Manual Thunderbolts.
