Middlesex Country District Attorney to Host Free Conference for Middle, High School Girls
The Empowering Girls conference is November 13 in Newton.
Middlesex Attorney General Marian Ryan, the only female of the 11 elected district attorneys in Massachusetts, is set to host a conference especially for middle and high school girls next week.
The regularly-occurring Empowering Girls conference brings hundreds of middle- and high-school-aged girls together for an inspiring slate of speakers designed to inform participants about how they can become civically involved and motivate them to "use their unique talents to lead and make a difference," said Emily Rogers, a representative from Ryan's office.
According to the Middlesex DA website, "Empowering Girls is designed to foster confidence-building, self-assertion, goal setting and building healthy relationships...to have a positive influence on their peers and positive impact on their communities."
Among past speakers who have engaged with the group, sharing their stories about becoming inspiring leaders, are State Representative Amy Mah Sangiolo, WBZ reporter Kristina Rex, Dr. Robin Brooks, State Department Fellow at Tufts Universityâs Fletcher School and more.
The upcoming conference will take place at Newton City Hall on November 13 from 9am-12:30pm and is free to attend.
