Weekend Buzz | Get Your Vote On

Good Morning!

First, a brief correction: I mistakenly said yesterday that the open house at Temple Shalom Emeth is today. It is not. It is tomorrow! So, if you’re interested, from 2-4 tomorrow, go and get to know the temple and have some fun (and ice cream) while you’re at it.

Today is the First Day for Early Voting

Early Voting begins today at Grandview Farm for the September 6 State Primary Election. Here are some resources to help with a couple of the races on the Democratic ballot.

Candidate Interviews

Marilyn Petitto Devaney and Mara Dolan for Governor’s Council

Ken Gordon and Timmy Sullivan for State Representative

More profiles at the BNEWS Election Center

Debates

Ken and Timmy go head-to-head in the BCAT studio.

Some tense moments as long-time friends Mara and Marilyn engage in a battle of words.

What Else Is On the Ballot?

These are, of course, not the only candidates on the ballot, but these candidates represent our little corner of the state, and therefore our interests as Burlingtonians in their respective bodies.

If you’re wondering who else is running, you can find a full sample ballot here - just enter your address and click whether you’ll be voting in the Democratic or Republican primary.

No party? No problem. If you’re unenrolled, that just means you get to choose which primary you vote in.

Mail-In Ballot Requests Due Monday, August 29

If you need a mail-in ballot, be sure to get your request in by Monday, and then vote ASAP. (Author’s note: It’s entirely possible I said before that your ballots have to be in by 8/29. If I did say that, it’s because I misunderstood! Requests are due Monday.)

From my mail-in ballot: “The USPS recommends mailing your ballot at least one week before Election Day” because “Ballots must be received by 8pm on September 6 in order to be counted.”

That’s it for today.

Have a great day!

Nicci
