Daily Buzz | Petitto Devaney Squeaks Into General Election

Good Morning!

If you haven’t yet put out your barrels, don’t! Trash collection is delayed by a day due to Monday’s holiday.

The final two races on our ballot were called yesterday: Leah Cole Allen will be on the Republican ticket for Lieutenant Governor, and Marilyn Petitto Devaney (D) ended up just making the ballot for Governor’s Council.

Finally, there was a fire drill at the high school yesterday and, despite reports of students smelling smoke, it seems there was no actual fire. Happy to know the schools are doing their usual fire drills, and apologies for any confusion or panic my tweet caused!

Today in Burlington

The Economic Development Office is holding its first of four September Beer Gardens tonight in the little park between Sweet Ginger and Coldwell Banker in the center of town. Last time the town held one of these, it was super duper successful. I look forward to seeing everyone there!

  • 9:00 AM - Housing Authority will vote on the cost breakdown for the vision plan for full time Housing Authority employees and will see a presentation from the Housing Partnership on the Housing Needs Assessment.
  • 4:30-8:30 - Beer Garden featuring beer from Exhibit ‘A’ Brewing Company and food from Burlington restaurants, Viet Citron and Al Maidah Cuisine. A portion of the proceeds from beer sales will benefit People Helping People the Burlington food pantry.
  • 7:00 PM - Conservation Commission will discuss some new residential construction projects, continue hearing about 1 Mall Road, and discuss their endorsement (or not) of the Community Preservation Act. (Join online)
  • 7:00 PM - Library Trustees meets for their regular meeting. (Join online)

That’s it for today. Don’t forget there is a kid’s craft for pickup at the library tomorrow, and Saturday is the BHS Football Comedy Night at the Legion.

See you tomorrow!
