Daily Buzz | Gordon Advances to State General Election

Hello, friends and neighbors,

Just a few short things going on as I reorient myself to being back home.

Primary Results

Primary elections were yesterday, and results in some races are still being counted.

In a race that started out looking close as counting began, Ken Gordon ended up taking nearly 2/3 of the vote, beating out challenger and Burlington resident Timmy Sullivan.

The hotly contested Governor’s Council race is still too close to call, with just two percentage points separating frontrunner, 23-year incumbent, Marilyn Petitto Devaney, from her hard-campaigning challenger, Mara Dolan. Eighty-three percent of districts are reporting so far, and hopefully we’ll have a final answer later today.

Burlington’s preliminary results, which largely followed along with the state trends, can be found attached to this post. Here are the full statewide results (contested elections only):

Just two meetings on the calendar today.

  • 6:00 PM - Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee meets for some updates on meetings Committee members have been holding with the heads of key departments in town government, and to discuss the upcoming joint meeting with the Select Board, which has been scheduled for September 19!   • 6:30 PM - Transportation Committee will discuss priority areas for transportation recommendations. (Join online)
